Where Vines Meet the Pines
Experience wine tasting the way it was meant to be – along country roads around and through the quaint foothill towns of Grass Valley and Nevada City.
Nevada County is the premier grape growing region of the Sierra Nevada. In the summer, warm days and cool nights provide ideal growing conditions—producing grapes with ripe, concentrated flavors and balanced natural acidity. In the winter, cold and sometimes-snowy weather allows vines to go dormant, rest, and conserve energy for the coming season. Nevada County’s four distinct seasons, and its range of elevations and landscapes, makes it a fertile home for more than 45 varieties of wine grapes. Vineyards are planted at elevations as low as 1,300 feet all the way up to 2,600. The region boasts more than 60 miles of terrain between vineyards and as a result, the grapes display a diverse array of varietal characteristics. Gold Miners Inn partners with Naggiar Winery at our Thursday evening Wine and Dine event. We pair the finest of Naggiar’s 18 varietals with dishes from five local restaurants. The event is fun and free for Gold Miners Inn guests! The winery offers traditional Rhone, Bordeaux and Italian wines, whose quality comes from selecting varietals that flourish in Naggiar’s southern Nevada County location. At a stunningly picturesque estate, the Naggiar family operates a 3,500-square-foot Tuscan-inspired tasting room. Complimentary wine tasting featuring a wide range of Naggiar wines is offered Friday through Sunday from noon to 5 PM. As more guests arrive to enjoy free music on Friday and Saturday evenings, wine selections become more limited but tasting continues until 9 PM. Mid-week tastings are by appointment only. Once a month, concert bands take Naggiar’s lakeside stage. Ticket prices and start times vary for each event (18125 Rosemary Lane, Grass Valley, 530-268-9059). Downtown Grass Valley is home to four wine tasting rooms, all within walking distance of the Gold Miners Inn:
